Frozen meals often get a bad rep for being non-nutritive and high in processed ingredients. While this is true for some brands, and was previously the case, the new wave of health craze has led to improved meal options that cater to a variety of dietary requirements. From low carb, to gluten free, low sodium and heart healthy, there are endless options to choose from. Today's post will be focusing on finding the right meals for you, under $5.00 a meal.

To make it easy, meals will be split into categories based on their dietary content. These categories will be:

Diabetic Friendly - lower carb meals that reduce the chance of spiked insulin

Heart Healthy - meals with under 650mg of sodium per serving

High Fiber - meals with more than 5g of fiber per serving

Standard - for those without dietary restrictions

While there are many frozen meals available, many should be eaten in moderation due to the extremely high sodium content and high caloric content. Always read nutrition labels to make sure it is suitable for your diet. If you are unsure, speak with your doctor.

None of these brands provide endorsement, nor monetary compensation. These are selected solely for their nutritional content to help seniors.
