Senior Pen Pal Program

The Purpose

The Senior Pen Pal Program connects volunteers with older adults who would enjoy exchanging letters. Volunteers and seniors are paired and communicate through handwritten letters, cards, or emails depending on preference.

The goal is to create genuine, ongoing connections. Volunteers might share stories about their daily lives, hobbies, books they enjoy, or ask about the senior’s life experiences, memories, and interests.

Many seniors have incredible stories and wisdom to share, and letter writing provides a comfortable, low-pressure way to build meaningful relationships across generations.

Letters can be as simple as a friendly greeting, a seasonal card, or a thoughtful message checking in. Over time, these small acts of kindness often grow into treasured friendships.
